‘Skyrocket’ is not a verb*

Light blue touch-paper and stand well back, because I’m about to have a bit of a rant…

I bet you’ve seen plenty of headlines offering products and services that will ‘skyrocket your business’. Presumably, they are suggesting their advice will make the upward line of your profit graph whoosh off the page and explode through the roof.

It’s become a bit of a cliché. A damp squib. Don’t do it!

Find another way of selling the benefits of your goods. Be creative and original. Please.

*According to Wikipedia, it’s a type of firework.
