Sitting on a balcony, notepad and pen in hand. Sun, baking the lacquer off the desk in front of me. Donkeys, braying in the olive grove below. Ideas flowed into the top of my head and down through my hands onto the page. I wrote some of my best stuff on a creative writing holiday on a Greek island – and it inspired me to offer a similar experience for copywriters here in the UK.
Why not dedicate a whole working week to improving your copywriting skills? On this copywriting retreat, we stay in a lovely converted barn in East Sussex that certainly has the ‘wow’ factor. We undertake copywriting tasks each day, eat all our meals together, and have some fun in the evenings.
This is a five-day retreat focusing on a different aspect of copywriting each day:
- Day 1: Basics of marketing
- Day 2: Web copywriting
- Day 3: Writing newsletters, sales letters and press releases
- Day 4: The business of copywriting (free afternoon)
- Day 5: Social media content and strategy
You’ll learn everything you need to know about writing compelling copy for your business or your clients, and benefit from individual feedback.
Who should attend
Startups, entrepreneurs, business-owners and marketers – anyone who wants to do their own copywriting (or who wants to know whether their copywriter is doing a good job). Anyone who has or is planning to start a freelance copywriting business, such as junior copywriters, virtual assistants and freelance journalists.
What you need to know beforehand
The fee includes all tuition, accommodation, and meals. Our hosts, Sandra and Miles, do all the catering. If you’re a dog-lover, you’ll be pleased to know the barn also houses two friendly deerhounds. If you’re not a dog-lover, you’ll be pleased to know the dogs stay downstairs.
Optional evening events
- Games night (if you’re up for a Scrabble challenge!)
- Wine tasting with delicious nibbles
- Night out in buzzy Brighton or nearby Lewes
- Wine-writing session with Sandra
The retreat runs just once each year, with a maximum of five delegates – so everyone receives individual attention. Please bring your own laptop/tablet/pen and paper.
