To help decide if I’m the right copywriting mentor for you, here are the answers to some common questions…
What kind of mentees have you worked with before?
Many of the people I mentor are current or former journalists who are moving into copywriting, or marketing professionals who’ve never been trained how to write copy.
Typically, my mentees already know how to write. What they don’t know is how to write proper copy, or how to run a freelance copywriting business.
What topics do you cover?
It depends what you need. For example, we could discuss the craft of copywriting, the freelance business, setting your prices, dealing with difficult clients, or anything else you need to know.
How do you give feedback?
We talk things through. Usually, I ask you to tell me what you think before I share my opinion, because there’s no point me telling you what you already know.
Do you edit my copy?
I don’t edit your copy, but I do give you tips so you can edit it yourself. If you want, I’ll then review it again to ensure you haven’t missed anything.
Can I see testimonials?
Yes, you can read them here. Past mentees describe the process of working with me, and the results they’ve achieved.
How often do we meet?
Some people need just one session while others might book a series of three to six.
How long are sessions?
Usually 60-90 minutes on Zoom.
What’s expected of me between sessions?
I sometimes give ‘homework’, such as an assignment for you to complete, a video to watch, or useful reading.
What do you need from me before we start working together?
I usually ask to see three examples of your typical writing. This helps me understand where you’re at and what you need. You can send me an email with attachments or links.
What’s your fee?
£250 per hour plus VAT.
