Last night, I was a judge at a speaking contest run by the English-Speaking Union. The ESU is an international educational charity founded by journalist Sir Evelyn Wrench in 1918. The aim is to give young people the speaking and listening skills they need to thrive in a changing world, so it’s a charity I’m delighted to support.
The first heats were held online, and they are hoping that future heats will be held at their HQ since 1926, Dartmouth House in Mayfair. It’s a beautiful Grade II listed Mayfair townhouse once used by Winston Churchill. It’s also where I sometimes meet clients (when restrictions allow).
